Non Surgical Fractures
Foot and Ankle fractures are very common. There are 26 bones in the foot! As you can imagine each fracture requires different treatment. Fortunately, the majority of fractures can be treated without surgery. Although Dr. H is a specialized surgeon, he has extensive experience and expertise in the non surgical and surgical treatment of fractures. He has also had many of these fractures himself and therefore makes this a major part of his practice.
We approach fractures with the following goals:
◆ Treat all fractures without surgery when possible
◆ Use advanced imaging to determine the best treatment
◆ Aim for the fastest recovery and use physical therapy aggressively
◆ Avoid casts to allow early motion walking when possible
◆ Consider why the fracture happened and consider osteoporosis
◆ Optimize fracture healing with Vitamin D supplementation
◆ Provide the tools and information you need to recover with ease and comfort
◆ Provide disabled parking permit paperwork
◆ Complete paperwork for work absence/FMLA
